Cold Applied Asphalt Crack Sealer
SEAL & PROTECT
Cold Applied Asphalt Crack Sealer (TL-R)
TL-R is a black, rubberized single-component crack sealant — a viscous, elastic bitumen polymer applied cold, with no heating or specialist equipment required. It fills cracks 4mm and wider, preventing water penetration and bonding securely with the surrounding pavement.
How it works
TL-R can be used as a stand-alone repair for distressed roads, or as prior treatment ahead of a TL-2000 top-layer application. Because it cures cold, it's suited to environments where hot application is impractical or unsafe — including airports and other live-traffic sites — and can be applied manually or by automated equipment in any temperature.
Technical characteristics
- Minimum crack width: 4mm and wider.
- Application: cold-applied, manual or automated; no heating or special equipment required.
- Cure profile: heavy, slow-curing formulation for lasting elasticity in the crack.
- Compatibility: can be used as a stand-alone crack repair, or combined with TL-2000 as a protective top-layer treatment.
Why timely crack sealing matters
Untreated cracks allow water into the pavement structure, accelerating oxidation and structural failure. Sealing cracks promptly with TL-R extends road service life and reduces the cost of more extensive repairs later.
Frequently asked questions
What is TL-R Cold Crack Sealer?
A viscous, single-component elastic bitumen polymer, cold-applied, developed specifically for sealing pavement cracks.
What cracks can be sealed with TL-R?
TL-R is designed for asphalt and concrete cracks generally. Narrower cracks can be sealed by coating the surface with a thin membrane of TL-2000; wider cracks require deeper patching using our pothole repair materials (see SOUP). Vibrating or moving cracks require the rubberized TL-R solution specifically.
How is a crack sealed with TL-R?
Remove any old sealant and loose material along the crack edges. Fill the remaining void with a layer of TL-R. Optionally, the surface can then be coated with a thin membrane of TL-2000 for added protection. Only the crack itself should be filled — TL-R should not be spread across the surrounding road surface.
